AMO

Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) is an international company with the headquarters in Orange County, California, United States. It manufactures ophthalmic surgical and contact lens care products.

AMO employs more than 2.100 employees worldwide, has offices in more than 20 countries, and is represented by its distributors in 60 countries.

AMO was founded in 2002 as a spin-off from Allergan (now focusing on ophthalmic medications and Botox), and inherited Allergan plants in Anasco, Puerto Rico and Hangzhou (China). Research and development of medical products had already become independent in the parent company. After AMO spun off from Allergan, it has intensified development of ophthalmic medical products. This resulted in its present second place in the world in intraocular lens production, as well as the second place in the production of contact lens care products. In late 2003, the production was expanded by the purchase of new plants in Spain.

Combining cutting-edge technology with experienced leadership, AMO launched a number of well-known products and brands, such as Complete, Lens Plus, Array, Sensar, etc. Engineers and scientists of AMO work hard to develop new products and services that improve the life-quality of their users.
